Valid 141200Z - 201200Z

Lingering high pressure over the Great Basin will continue to
enhance offshore flow in southern California. A broad, upper-level
ridge across the West Coast will begin to amplify over the Pacific
through D5/Friday. The ridge will eventually break down as a series
of Pacific troughs move in towards the West Coast. At the surface,
arctic high pressure will dive down from Canada into the Central
Plains on D6/Sunday. To the west, upper-level troughing off the West
Coast will bring precipitation to the western CONUS by D8/Monday and

...D3/Wednesday...Southern California...
LAX-DAG pressure gradient guidance has increased somewhat in the
latest model runs. At least elevated fire weather conditions are
expected across the Coastal Ranges/foothills of southwest
California. With a stronger offshore gradient expected, a higher
probability of critical conditions has been introduced for a small
portion of the higher terrain of LA/Ventura Counties and the San
Jacinto/Laguna Mountains vicinity. Surface winds should taper off by
the end of the day.
